Rhai ar olud sydd yn pwyso

(Salm XCIX. RhanI:6-9)
Rhai ar olud sydd yn pwyso,
  Gan ymffrostio'n fibl o hyd
Y'nghyflawnder mawr eu cyfoeth;
  O mor annoeth ŷnt i gyd!
Canys nis gall neb waredu
  Brawd anwylgu rhag y bedd,
Nac i Dduw un iawn roi drosto,
  Na phwrcasu iddo'i hedd.

Cadw'r corph rhag llygredigaeth,
  'R holl gre'digaeth byth nis gwna;
A rhag distryw'r enaid aflan,
  Nis gall arian, aur, na dâ;
Canys gwerthfawr iawn yw pryniad
  Enaid anfad pob rhyw ddyn;
Nid oes neb all byth ei brynu,
  Ond yr Iesu mawr ei hun.

Rhai ar olud sydd yn pwyso,
  Gan ymffrostio lawer pryd
Yng nghyflawnder mawr eu cyfoeth;
  O mor annoeth ŷnt i gyd!
Canys nis gall neb waredu
  Brawd anwylgu rhag y bedd,
Nac i Dduw un iawn roi drosto,

Cadw'r corph rhag llygredigaeth,
  Y gre'digaeth oll nis gwna;
Cadw'r enaid rhag y poenau,
  Nis gall arian, aur, na da:
Canys gwerthfawr iawn yw pryniad
  Enaid anfad pob rhyw ddyn;
Nid oes neb all byth ei brynu,
  Ond yr Arglwydd mawr ei hun.

gwelir: Rhan II - Y bedd yw lletty pob dyn doeth

(Psalm 49. Part 1:6-9)
Some on riches are leaning,
  While still boasting in the bible,
In the great fullness of their wealth
  O how unwise are they altogether!
Since no-one can deliver
  A dearly-beloved brother from the grave,
Nor to God any ransom give for him,
  Nor purchase for him his peace.

Keep the body from corruption,
  The whole creation shall not do;
And from the destruction of the unclean soul,
  Nor can silver, gold, nor goods;
Since very precious is the redemption
  Of the wicked soul of every kind of man;
There is no-one who can ever redeem him,
  But the great Jesus himself.

Some on riches are leaning,
  While boasting many a time
In the great fullness of their wealth;
  O how unwise they are altogether!
Since no-one can deliver
  A dearly-beloved brother from the grave,
Nor to god any ransom give for him,
  Or purchase for him peace.

Keep the body from corruption,
  The whole creation shall not do;
Keep the soul from the pains,
  No silver, gold, nor goods can.
Since very precious is the redemption
  Of the wicked soul of every kind of man;
There is no-one who can every redeem him,
  But the great Lord himself.
